Early morning crash kills one and leaves off duty Fire Fighter in serious condition

Police are investigating an early morning crash that has left one person dead and one in serious condition. The accident happened around 7:30am Saturday in the 1400 block of Princess Anne Road near the intersection of Princess Anne and Jarvis Road. Investigations revealed that the first vehicle was traveling northbound on Princess Anne Road when it veered to the right off the shoulder, over corrected and crossed into the southbound lane striking another vehicle head on. Both pickup trucks caught on impact.

A group of good Samaritans moved in quickly pulling the trucks apart and got one of the victims out of the their trucks. One driver died at the scene. The deceased victim is being identified as 62 year old Katherine Margaret Allen, of the 1400 block of Drum Point Road Va. Beach.

The driver of the second truck is a Virginia Beach Firefighter who was off duty at the time of the accident, and was headed into work when it happened.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
