Park Hills, MO : Three people were injured in a three-vehicle collision on Highway 8 in St. Francois County on Tuesday, June 21, 2016
Three people were injured in a three-vehicle collision that occurred at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday at the junction of Highway 8 and Maple Street in St. Francois County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck took place when a westbound 2005 Pontiac Sunfire driven by Justin C. Parks, 26, of Potosi, failed to observe that a 1998 Ford Mustang driven by Courtney B. Laramore, 36, of Irondale, had stopped for traffic. Failing to stop, Park's Sunfire struck the right rear of Laramore's Mustang, causing it to travel into the eastbound lanes of Highway 8 where a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Mary K. Boyd, 67, of Park Hills, ran into the Mustang's passenger side.
Boyd was taken to Parkland Health Center by St. Francois County Ambulance where she was treated for serious injuries. According to the patrol, it's uncertain whether or not she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. A 3-year-old occupant riding in a safety seat in Boyd's vehicle, Sophia D. Boyd, was taken to Parkland by private conveyance where she was treated for minor injuries.
Laramore, who was reportedly wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred, was also transported to Parkland Health Center by St. Francois County Ambulance where she was treated for moderate injuries.
