Marion, S.C : 12-year-old dies after single-vehicle crash on Highway 9 in Marion on Saturday, April 23, 2016

A 12-year-old boy was killed following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 9 in Marion on Saturday, April 23.

According to Lance Cpl. Judd Jones of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the vehicle was traveling north on Highway 9 at approximately 9:54 p.m. when the car went into a ditch, hit a fire hydrant and overturned.

The driver, 18-year-old Clifford Legette, was transported to a Marion area hospital with serious injuries.

Tylek Gause, 12, was in the passenger's seat at the time of the crash. He died as a result of his injuries.

Jones said the SCHP is still investigating the crash.
