Bullhead City,AZ : Needles man admits causing fatal crash on August, Thursday 31th 2017
A Needles man who caused a January fatal crash that killed two people pleaded guilty Thursday.
Joshua Brett Meyer, 28, of Needles pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter and one count of misdemeanor driving under the influence. Other charges including aggravated assault and another misdemeanor count of driving under the influence were dropped.
Under the plea agreement, Superior Court Judge Richard Weiss will sentence Meyer to 10 years in prison. Sentencing is set for Sept. 29.
Bullhead City first responders were called to a single-vehicle fatal crash in the early morning hours of Jan. 15 on Bullhead Parkway between Camino Real Boulevard and Adobe Road. Two passengers in the back seat, Wyatt Gram Brown, 19, from Needles, and Isaac Gabrial Maestas, 19, of Bullhead City were found dead at the scene, Bullhead City police reported.
According to the accident report, the car left the roadway and became airborne. Brown and Maestas were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle.
Meyer, who was the driver of the silver Toyota, and another passenger in the front seat from Bullhead City were flown to a Las Vegas hospital. Meyer’s blood alcohol level was tested at the hospital at 0.241 percent and later by the Arizona Department of Public Safety lab at 0.219 percent. The legal limit in Arizona is 0.080 percent.
