Manhattan, KS : One dead, one injured after Sunday morning crash into a tree in Manhattan, December 7, 2014

A 17-year-old is dead after the car he was riding in crashed early Sunday morning. Brent E. Kilbourn, of Riley, was the passenger in a 1998 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Wyatt R. Howe, 17, also of Riley, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log. Officers and first responders arrived in scene around 4:38 a.m. A preliminary investigation determined Howe was driving the Camaro westbound in the 7700 block of Anderson Ave. when, “for an unknown reason lost control, went into the north ditch and struck a tree,” the report said. The extent of Howes injuries are unknown at this time. Family and friends paid tribute to the Riley County High School student on his Facebook page Sunday.
