RANGELEY, ME : Snowmobilers injured in separate crashes in Rangeley on Sunday, February 5th 2017

A Kennebunk man was injured Sunday morning when the front ski of his snowmobile got caught under the track of his son's snowmobile on Town Cove on Rangeley Lake, Game Warden Patrick Egan said Monday.The sled of the father, Russell Webber, 48, rolled once and Webber rolled about 20 times, Egan said.

The sleds were going about 55 mph and were about 300 yards from shore when they collided at about 10:30 a.m., he said.

The son, whose name was not immediately available, thought he had enough space to go in front of his father's snowmobile, Egan said.

Webber is believed to have received a broken shoulder and broken ribs, Egan said.

Rangeley Fire Rescue Department members helped Webber before he was taken by NorthStar EMS ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

Another accident occurred at about 4 p.m. Friday on the Boy Scout Trail Road on ITS 84 in Rangeley when a snowmobiler hit a tree. It was about 500 feet from the Route 16 crossing, Rangeley Fire Rescue Chief Tim Pellerin said.

The injured person was taken by a NorthStar ambulance to meet a medical helicopter at the Lindbergh Airport on Route 4 in Avon, Pellerin said.
