Ellensburg, WA : Yakima woman hurt in crash with semi near Ellensburg on Friday afternoon, February 24, 2017
A Yakima woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following a crash between a car and a semitruck near Ellensburg on Friday afternoon, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Kristen Benoit, 32, was the only one injured in the crash, which was reported about 2:20 p.m. 4 miles south of Ellensburg on eastbound Interstate 82, the patrol said. An update on her condition was not immediately available Friday evening.
James L. Rhodes — the 25-year-old driver of the car Benoit was riding in — and two juvenile passengers were not injured but were taken to KVH Hospital in Ellensburg, the patrol said.
The semi driver was a 74-year-old Meridian, Miss., man named John L. Perry. His rig was driven from the scene. The car, a Ford Taurus, was destroyed when it hit the semi in the rear, the patrol said.
