Richmond, KY : A fatal crash at Tates Creek on Wednesday, November, 1st 2017

Various agencies responded Wednesday afternoon to a fatal crash at Tates Creek Avenue and Grey Oaks Drive between a pickup truck and passenger car.

Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison has confirmed one female victim, Peggy Smith, 63, of Richmond, died in the accident. Richmond Police Sgt. Josh Hale said another passenger was in serious to critical condition and was transported to University of Kentucky Hospital.

Cornelison said wet roads might have been a factor.

“We are still trying to figure out what happened,” said Ron Jackson, assistant Madison County EMS director, who said his agency got the call around 1:48 p.m.

Kentucky State Police are on the scene assisting RPD with accident reconstruction, according to Hale.

According to Jackson, city and county fire departments also responded.
