Huntington, IN : Marion woman dies in crash on Thursday, January, 4th 2018
A Marion woman died Thursday morning from blunt force injuries after being involved in a two vehicle accident.
According to a press release from Huntington County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred on Ind. 9 South, just north of CR 900S in Huntington County at 7:09 a.m. Thursday.
Tyson L. Gotschall, 31, of Fairmount, was traveling south bound on Ind. 9 with no other occupants in his vehicle. He was wearing a seat belt. Gotschall complained of lower leg pain.
Deborah L. Brankle, 58, of Marion, was traveling northbound on Ind 9. Gotschall’s vehicle went left of center, according to the press release, and struck Brankle’s vehicle head on. She was declared dead at the scene by the Huntington County Coroner’s office. Weather at the time of the collision included light snow, though the press release said neither the weather nor road conditions appeared to be a factor in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing by the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department, Huntington County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team, and Huntington County Coroner’s office.
Assisting agencies included Mt. Etna and Warren Fire Departments, Parkview Huntington EMS, Andrews Police and Huntington County Disaster Action Team.
