Maricopa, AZ : 1 dead, 1 injured in wrong-way crash on State Route 347 on Sunday, 23rd February, 2020

A person was killed and another was seriously injured after a wrong-way car crash on State Route 347 near Maricopa, officials said.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said the incident occurred as a driver was traveling south in the northbound lanes of SR 347 by Casa Blanca Road and crashed into another car.

The wrong-way driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital and later died.

DPS officers were still investigating but believed that impairment was a factor in the crash.
