Punta Gorda , FL : Motorcyclist was dead after was heading north on Burnt Store Road on Saturday afternoon, December 6th 2014

A motorcyclist is dead after a crash in Punta Gorda Saturday afternoon. It happened on Burnt Store Road near Cape Horn Boulevard at around 1:37 p.m. According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, the motorcyclist was heading north on Burnt Store Road. She attempted to turn left onto Alcazar Drive when a car heading south struck her. "I was at my house and I was doing landscaping for my parents. I heard a loud crash. You know, there's construction out here. So maybe I thought it was construction. But then, I came out here with my brother. We saw a body laying in the road," said witness Jaylon Borges. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was not injured, but was issued a citation for failure to yield. No criminal charges will be filed.
