A northeastern Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty in a drunken-driving crash that killed a 12-year-old boy on his way to get ice cream with his father.
David Turano interrupted his trial Monday to enter the plea to charges of homicide by a motor vehicle and aggravated assault while driving under the influence.
The 45-year-old Carbondale man faces a mandatory minimum of three years in prison. The Scranton Times-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1FSiA06) reports he agreed to a sentence of 5 to 12 years.
Prosecutors say Turano had a blood alcohol content of 0.118 percent, nearly 1½ times the state's legal limit, when he crashed into Leonard Zupon Sr.'s car last August in Old Forge.
The boy, also named Leonard, was airlifted to the hospital. He was pronounced dead hours later.
