Denver, CO : A 39-YEAR-OLD woman has died after being struck by a car on Friday, September 1, 2017

A 39-YEAR-OLD woman has died after being struck by a car while she was walking on a road in the remote Kimberley overnight.

Police from the remote Aboriginal community of Looma are investigating the fatal crash in Mount Hardman, near Derby and Fitzroy Crossing, on Friday night.

Police say a Holden Colorado was travelling east on the Great Northern Highway about 7.30pm when it crossed paths with three vehicles parked on the northern side of the road, about 500m west of the Blina Station Access Road, where occupants were repairing a flat tyre to one of the vehicles.

It’s believed the driver of the Holden Colorado veered to the centre of the road in a bid to avoid the pedestrians, but collided with a woman who was walking on the road.

Police and Fitzroy Crossing Hospital staff arrived at the scene, but the 39-year-old woman died from her injuries.

If anyone saw the crash or the Colorado before the collision is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au
