Bridgeport, CT : Two people injured after crash at the intersection of Lafayette Blvd. and State Street on Monday, Sep 21, 2015

Two people were transported to a city hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a crash at the intersection of State Street and Lafayette Boulevard early Monday morning.
One car was struck on its rear passenger door, causing the side air bags to deploy. The second vehicle, an orange subcompact, had its front hood and bumper crumpled in the collision and the driver’s air bag deployed.
The downtown intersection has been the scene of many accidents, and at least one fatality, in recent years.
Mayra Cardona, 39, was killed at the intersection on Nov. 23, 2013 was remembered Monday as a devoted mother, relative and friend who always had time to do something for others.
The city woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident. One vehicle with three occupants rolled over after impact. Cardona, the driver, was partially ejected and died from her injuries at the scene. Two passengers, aged 15 and 16, were transported to Bridgeport Hospital with minor injuries and were treated and later released.
