Police in Charlotte are asking for the public's help in locating a vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run accident Wednesday.
The incident happened at 11:59 a.m. at the intersection of South Boulevard and New Bern Station Court.
Officers said the victim, later identified as Jefferson Davis James, was driving a moped southbound on South Boulevard when a black 2005 Nissan Murano traveling northbound turned left onto New Bern Station Court in front of the moped.
The moped then struck the rear passenger door area of the Nissan. The driver of the Nissan continued onto New Bern Station Court then went south on South Boulevard.
James was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 12:38 p.m.
Investigators say the Nissan has a Texas license plate number DMP8296. It has chrome door handles and rear tinted windows. It should also have damage around the rear passenger door area.
