Manatee County , FL : 55-year-old Wilfred Calvin Jones and Teenager injured in Crash after he drifted into the dirt shoulder and crashed into a large oak tree on Sunday morning, April 5th 201

A single vehicle crash took the life of the driver, 55-year-old Wilfred Calvin Jones of Arcadia, and critically injured a 15-year-old, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash took place in Manatee County on State Road 70 when for some reason the vehicle Jones was driving left the westbound lane and drifted into the eastbound lane, onto the dirt shoulder and crashed into a large oak tree at 10:43 a.m. Sunday.

The impact caused the vehicle to burst into flames.

A passerby, identified by FHP as Levi Parker Teuton, removed the teen passenger but by doing so was severely burned. Both the teen, 15-year-old Chicago A. Gainer of Arcadia, and Teuton were taken by medical helicopter to Tampa General Hospital.

Gainer was listed in critical condition.
