Wilmington, DE : Police chase with juveniles ends in crash near New Castle on Monday, December 12, 2016
A police chase ended in a crash at Hares Corner Monday afternoon, according to state police.
A state trooper noticed a traffic violation while on patrol and attempted to stop the vehicle, said Sgt. Richard Bratz, a spokesman with Delaware State Police.
The driver did not pull over, Bratz said, and a pursuit ended with the suspects’ vehicle crashing into a minivan at Hares Corner, where Del. 273 and U.S. 13 meet. The crash was reported shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to police scanner reports.
Three juveniles exited the vehicle and fled on foot before they were apprehended by police, Bratz said.
An ambulance was called for the female driver of the minivan, but she declined medical treatment, Bratz said.Bratz could not yet comment on official charges but said the juveniles could face charges related to driving a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest and a “slew of traffic violations.”
Traffic in the area was delayed while the crash was investigated and cleared. Travelers in the area should expect residual delays.
