East Naples, FL : 47-year-old motorcyclist dies in a fatal crash on U.S. 41 East in Collier County on Saturday night, Nov 14, 2015

A Saturday night crash in East Naples claimed the life of a 47-year-old man on a motorcycle.

The fatal crash occurred at 8:53 p.m. on U.S. 41 East at the entrance to Courthouse Shadows shopping center, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

Driving a Toyota Camry north on U.S. 41, Javaun McFarlane, 21, of Naples was charged with failure to yield to oncoming traffic after he attempted to make a left turn into the shopping center. The front of the Camry struck the front right side of a BMW R1100RT motorcycle that was southbound on the highway, the FHP reports.

The motorcyclist, Jesus Segura Ortega who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at NCH Hospital in Naples.

McFarlane was not injured in the crash, but a passenger in his car, 21-year-old Jennifer Durocher of Naples, received minor injuries, reports show.
