An 18-year-old Hyde Park man died Saturday after the car he was driving veered into oncoming traffic in Logan Canyon.Three others, including two passengers and the driver of the other vehicle, were taken to area hospitals in various conditions, one via helicopter. U.S. 89 was closed in the area for some time as officials investigated and cleared the site. Utah Highway Patrol trooper Lawrence Hopper said the accident happened about 8:30 a.m. just south of the Franklin Basin turnoff, where the passenger car driven by Ryker Dattage traveled in front of a truck pulling a boat out of the canyon. Dattage was badly injured in the collision and died at the scene.The cause of the accident has yet to be determined. Hopper said officials haven't ruled out distracted driving.
