Chiefland, FL : Gilchrist County woman dies in three-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Route 129 and County Road 345 on Tuesday, 25th February, 2020
A crash at a Chiefland intersection Tuesday evening resulted in the death of a Gilchrist County woman.
The crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. Route 129 and County Road 345 at about 7 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.
The first vehicle involved was a 2010 Toyota Venza driven by Jennifer Masteller, 32, of Bell, the release said. She and passenger Joshua Friend, 22, also of Bell, were traveling south on U.S. 129, approaching the intersection.
The Toyota crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck that was traveling north on U.S. 129 and heading through the same intersection, a 2013 GMC Sierra driven by Allen Carlisle, 39, of Trenton.
A third vehicle, a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Payton Carter, 20, of Chiefland, was then hit by the GMC truck.
Masteller, the first driver, died of her injuries after being taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville for treatment, the release said.Her passenger, Friend, and Carlisle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Carter was not injured.
