Franklin, TN : I-65 is reopened after tanker crash, but expect delays on early Friday morning August 15th 2014
Police in Middle Tennessee say a tanker truck explosion and fire has killed one person and will result in significant delays for motorists on Interstate 65.
Police tell local news outlets the fuel tanker hit an overpass around 3:40 a.m. Friday in Franklin. It was carrying unleaded gasoline.
Franklin Police spokesman Charles Warner says the interstate has been reopened in both directions, except at the bridge, where motorists will have to exit the interstate and then get back on. He says motorists should prepare for long delays.
Witnesses said they heard a large boom and then saw a fireball light up the sky. TV news video showed that the fire has been extinguished.
It wasn't clear what caused the crash. Authorities are investigating.
