Huntsville, TX : Two sustain minor injuries in accident involving HISD bus on Wednesday, September 27th 2017
Two students received minor injuries when a Huntsville ISD bus was struck by another vehicle Wednesday afternoon after school let out.
According to the incident report, the bus was traveling south on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and approaching the intersection at 11th Street when a 2002 red Chevrolet Tahoe was pulling out of the driveway at the Quick Pic convenience store. Police say the driver of the Tahoe made too wide of a turn and clipped the front of the bus.
"It was a very minor accident, but two high school students were complaining of neck and back injuries at the scene," Lt. Jim Barnes with the Huntsville Police Department said. "They were transported to Huntsville Memorial Hospital as a precaution."
There were no other reported injuries.
The driver of the Tahoe was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way.
As Huntsville ISD protocol, the students were transferred to a new bus so they could be taken home.
