Vancouver, WA : Driver, 20, killed after wrong-way crash on Highway 26 on Saturday, December 17th 2016

A 20-year-old woman was killed early Saturday morning when her car, traveling east in the westbound lane of Highway 26, collided with two vehicles.

Madeline Duncan of Beaverton was killed in the crash, reported shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.

Other drivers reported that Duncan’s 2008 Honda Civic was traveling the wrong way as far west as Cornelius Pass Road, initially at a slow speed and then accelerating to possibly more than 100 miles per hour, a Washington County Sheriff’s Office news release says.

The Honda crashed between Murray Boulevard and Cornell Road.

The Honda hit a 2013 Toyota Tacoma, causing the Honda to rotate sideways as it was struck by a 2013 Mazda. The Honda was severed in half, killing the driver, the release says.

The Mazda driver, Saleh Batroukh, 27, and his 29-year-old passenger were taken to local hospitals with non life-threatening injuries.

Half of the Honda also struck a 1999 Toyota Sienna, causing moderate damage.

Highway 26 westbound was closed for about five hours during a post-crash investigation. Before the crash, deputies diverted traffic off Highway 26 and set up spike strips at Murray Boulevard, but the Honda did not reach that point.
