Woodland Hills,CA : Fiery, high-speed West Hills crash leaves man in critical condition after vehicle crashes into parked cars on January, Friday 5th 2018
Woodland Hills, California
A man was taken to the hospital in critical condition Friday after a stolen car he was driving crashed into four parked vehicles, sparking a fire and overturning onto the yard of a West Hills home, Los Angeles fire department officials said.
Los Angeles police and fire officials responded around 10:30 a.m. to a report of a crash involving several vehicles on the 22900 block of Roscoe Boulevard, said LAPD Officer Drake Madison.
A car carrying two people in their 20s collided into the parked cars and then went onto the yard of single-family home, Los Angeles fire department officials said.
At least three of the cars caught fire, including the one that was being driven. The woman who was inside the moving car was able to extricate herself, but the man in the driver’s seat needed to be pulled out by the fire crew, officials said.
Witnesses told fire officials the car was traveling at high speeds before hitting the parked vehicles.
Madison said the car had been “traveling at a high rate of speed” and went “out of control,” before it crashed into the other cars.
The tank of one of the parked vehicles, a pick-up truck, ruptured when the car collided with it, he said.
“The passenger is okay, but the driver suffered some very severe burns and is in critical condition,” Madison said.
Bystanders were trying to douse the flames “trying to save these people who were inside,” before firefighters arrived to finish the job, he said.
