Canton, OH : One dead in 5-vehicel crash on State Route 800 and Westbrook Street in Pike Township on Thursday, November 6, 2014
A crash in Stark County involved a school bus, a dump truck and three other vehicles and left one dead, Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened at about 2:10 p.m. on State Route 800 and Westbrook Street in Pike Township.
A school bus, a dump truck, a Subaru Forrester, a Ford Escape and a Ford Fusion were involved.
Troopers say an Osnaburg Township school bus was north on State Route 800 stopped at the traffic light of State Route 800 and Westbrook Street Southeast followed by the Subaru Forrester, a Ford Escape and a Ford Fusion.
Highway Patrol says a dump truck driven by 61-year-old Ronald Millard of Alliance hit the parked Fusion, causing a chain-reaction as the Fusion hit the Escape, the Escape hit the Forester, and the Forester hit the bus.
Seven students were on the bus along with the driver at the time of the crash. None of the children were injured.
The driver of the Forrester, Robert Anstine of Magnolia, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Escape, Jennifer Gabrys, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Fusion, Shane Porter, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Troopers say the crash remains under investigation and that alcohol is not suspected to be a factor.
