Gettysburg, PA : Sharpsville man dies in ATV crash on Saturday September 3 2016

A Mercer County man was killed Saturday night in an all-terrain-vehicle crash in northern Crawford County, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Meadville.

Travis L. Burge, 23, of Sharpsville was thrown from the ATV he was driving and died when it crashed off Gravel Run Road at the border of Cambridge and Woodcock townships at 8:35 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Burge was driving south when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, police said. The ATV then went off the east side of the road and struck a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation sign, police said.

Police said the ATV continued to travel south, crossed over a driveway and hit a fence line along a cow pasture, which then threw Burge from the ATV. Burge, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, died from his injuries, police said.
