Chico, CA : Man injured after a rollover crash at Park Avenue and 17th Street on Sunday morning, April 17, 2016

A rollover crash at Park Avenue and 17th Street late Sunday morning sent one man to the hospital with minor injuries.

Chico police and the Chico Fire Department responded to reports of a two-car crash and a resulting rollover with one man trapped inside his vehicle at around 11 a.m.

A Nissan Pathfinder traveling northbound on Park Avenue was broadsided by a vehicle traveling eastbound on 17th that was attempting to cross Park Avenue, which caused the Nissan to roll onto its side in front of the Money Saver gas station, said Sgt. Ben Love of the Chico Police Department.

The man was unable get out of the Pathfinder on his own, and firefighters worked for about 15 minutes to extricate him from the vehicle, said Chico Fire Department Division Chief Aaron Lowe. He was then transported to Enloe Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries to his leg and lacerations on his head.

The vehicle was removed from the roadway, and firefighters collected oil leaking from the Nissan to prevent it from flowing into a nearby storm drain.
