Leesburg, VA : Pennsylvania man killed in fatal Route 7 crash on Tuesday, November 1, 2016

A Pennsylvania man died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash Tuesday on Route 7 east near the Route 9 interchange in Leesburg.

Steven Snead, 44, had pulled his 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee off on the right shoulder of Route 7 about 12:52 p.m. when his vehicle was hit from behind by the driver of a 2015 Jeep Wrangler.

Snead was thrown from his vehicle and died at the scene, according to reports.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler was taken to Inova Loudoun Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Loudoun Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Investigators will review the results of the investigation with the Loudoun County Commonwealth's Attorney’s Office to determine any possible charges

The crash shut traffic down near the intersection to traffic, including during rush hour.
