Orchards,WA : Driver in fatal SR-500 crash suspected of DUI on August, Tuesday 1st 2017

A crash along SR-500 near milepost 9 left 1 person dead and another person injured Tuesday morning.

The Washington State Patrol said investigators believe the driver at fault was driving under the influence of prescription drugs. The driver received serious injuries and was arrested, but is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

The deceased was later identified as 68-year-old Jonna Porteous. She was the only occupant of her car. Officials said Porteous was unresponsive when crews arrived. They had to remove the top of her vehicle to get her out and managed to revive her. However, she died shortly after arriving at a hospital.

Trooper Will Finn said 2 other vehicles were involved. One of the occupants was transported to a hospital to receive treatment while 2 others received minor injuries.

Authorities said there were 3 dogs in the vehicle that caused the crash. None were injured.

SR-500 is also known as Fourth Plain Boulevard.
