Tucson, AZ : 5 injured, 1 critically, in 3-vehicle crash on Thursday, January 8, 2015

One person sustained life-threatening injuries, and four others were also injured, in a south-side crash Thursday night, Rural/Metro Fire Department says.

The three-vehicle crash was reported at about 7:30 p.m. in the 9600 block of South Nogales Highway. The critically injured patient was trapped in a vehicle and removed with specialized rescue tools. The other four patients sustained injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, said Capt. Jay Karlik, a public information officer for Rural/Metro. Southwest Ambulance also responded to the crash.

All patients were taken to University of Arizona Medical Center Main Campus.
