Rolla, MO : Newburg woman injured in head-on crash on Hwy J in Phelps County on Wednesday, September 27th 2017

Brenda J. Smith, 63, of Newburg received moderate injuries in a head-on collision five miles south of I-44 on Route J, late Wednesday morning, September 27, at 11:32 a.m. A 2016 Chevrolet Sonic driven by Henry Futch, 40, of Licking, was northbound on Hwy J when it traveled across the centerline and struck the southbound 2014 GMC Acadia driven by Brenda Smith, head-on. Futch was not wearing a safety device and received serious injuries. He was transported by Phelps County Ambulance to Phelps County Regional Medical Center, and later, by Phelps Air to University Hospital in Columbia. Smith was taken by Phelps County Ambulance to Phelps County Regional Medical Center. Both vehicles were totaled in the wreck
