New London,MN : Central Minnesota boy dies month after crash with semi-truck on April, Wednesday 25th 2018

A New London boy died Wednesday after being injured last month in a car crash.

According to the family's CaringBridge site, Nathaniel Shumaker, 11, died at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.


He was critically injured March 28 when a vehicle driven by his brother, Josh Shumaker, 16, collided with a semi-truck on state Highway 23 near Paynesville.

Josh was also severely injured but returned home last week.

Their mother, Heather Shumaker, and another son, Ben, 15, suffered minor injuries in the crash.

In a CaringBridge post, the father, Tim Shumaker, wrote that Nate was able to donate some organs and other tissues.

Nate was a fifth-grade student at New London-Spicer schols.
