Tallahassee, FL : New Smryna Beach man, 22, critically injured in motorcycle crash on Saturday, November, 25th 2017
A motorcyclist is in critical condition after ramming into the back of a car Saturday morning on South Nova Road, police said.
South Daytona Police Chief Ron Wright said the crash occurred shortly after 11 a.m. in the area of Carriage Cove Way.
The motorcyclist, Gordon Allen Young III, 22, of New Smyrna Beach, and his 2004 Suzuki GSXR were on fire moments after the crash, but bystanders quickly extinguished the flames, Wright said.
Young was critically injured and airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center, according to police. Wright told The News-Journal on Saturday afternoon that Young was “awake and alert,” but had suffered a fractured right leg and burns to 18 percent of his body.
The second vehicle involved in the crash was a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier. The driver of that vehicle, Ida Cruciani, 79, of Daytona Beach, was not injured, police said.
