Danville, CA : At least one person died after a three-car crash on I-680 Sunday, March 13, 2016
A person died in a freeway crash involving at least three cars Sunday, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash on southbound Interstate 680 happened just south of the Sycamore Valley Road exit around 12:14 p.m., CHP officer Eric Anderson said. Two SUVs and a sedan were involved in the wreck, he said.
Three lanes of I-680 were blocked after fire crews arrived at the scene, Anderson said, and the CHP issued a severe traffic alert for the area at 12:34 p.m. The alert was lifted just after 2:15 p.m., a CHP dispatcher said.
The freeway may have been wet from weekend rains when the crash happened, but the CHP could not immediately confirm that rain was falling.
