Three people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 65 in Sumner County

Three people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 65 in Sumner County Tuesday afternoon.

The five-vehicle crash occurred in the southbound lanes at mile marker 103, just north of Millersville, around 2 p.m.

Authorities said the driver of a Ford-F350, 31-year-old Steven Stryker, lost the load he was carrying on a utility trailer after traffic stopped abruptly due to a previous traffic incident on the roadway.

The Ford rear-ended a car before striking a Chevy pickup truck, pushing it into the rear of a tractor trailer.

Authorities said the driver of the Ford then spun out of control, striking a second tractor trailer.

A 41-year-old man and 27-year-old man were both airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for their injuries. Their condition was not immediately known.

A third man also sustained injuries. He was transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt.

Authorities said charges are pending against Stryker and one of the other drivers.
