ANDERSON COUNTY, SC : 2 killed in Anderson Co. crash on Friday, 28th July 2023

A woman and man were killed in a crash early Friday morning in Anderson County.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 3:40 a.m. on Belton Highway near Seneca Circle.

Troopers said a 2007 Honda Accord was traveling west on Belton Highway at a high rate of speed when it drove off the right side of the road, hit a telephone pole and gas line, and overturned.

Officials initially responded to the scene for a gas/propane leak. However, when they arrived at the scene they found the crash with two people inside the vehicle.

The woman in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Michaela Paige Christensen, 29, of Anderson, and Christopher Denate Woods, 27, of West Columbia.
