SHERIDAN, NY : Indiana man killed in crash on western NY section of Thruway on Wednesday 14th September 2016

Authorities say an Indiana man has died after his pickup truck was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer on a western stretch of New York’s Thruway, closing an eastbound section of the highway for several hours.

The state police Thruway detail says the crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 90 between Exit 59 and Exit 58 in the Chautauqua (shuh-TAW’-kwuh) County town of Sheridan, 30 miles southwest of Buffalo.

Troopers say a tractor-trailer rear ended 81-year-old Rush Addair’s pickup, causing it to overturn. The Indianapolis man was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21-year-old Indianapolis woman riding with him suffered minor injuries.

A 41-year-old Canadian man driving the tractor-trailer wasn’t injured.

Troopers say the crash remains under investigation.

The eastbound lanes were closed until nearly 9 a.m.
