Tooele County, UT : 1 killed, 2 injured in Tooele County crash on Saturday, 27th February 2021

One man was killed Saturday when his truck drifted into oncoming traffic in Tooele County and was hit by a passing vehicle.

The crash happened about 9:04 p.m. on state Route 36 north of Tooele near Erda, according to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Colton Freckleton.

Freckleton said a Dodge Ram was traveling south on the road during snowy and icy conditions. The truck was "traveling too fast for conditions" and "lost control." It hopped a concrete divider into northbound traffic.

A Ford F-150 hit the broad side of the truck and both vehicles came to rest on the road's right shoulder.

The driver of the Dodge, an 18-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle.

The Ford had five occupants, two adults and three children. Both the male driver and female passenger were transported in critical condition, Freckleton said, but the children suffered only minor injuries.
