BRENTWOOD, NH : Man charged with DWI after Route 101 crash on Monday, November, 6th 2017
A Manchester man is charged with driving while intoxicated after allegedly crashing into the rear-end of another car on Route 101 early Monday morning, and then fleeing the scene.
State police said they responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash along Route 101 westbound in Brentwood at approximately 12:04 a.m. Monday. Upon arrival, troopers learned one of the vehicles involved had fled the scene.
The operator of the remaining vehicle, a Toyota Prius, told police a suspect had approached him at a high rate of speed and struck the back-end of his vehicle. The impact forced the vehicle to deviate from the roadway and rollover, coming to rest on the driver’s side.
Police said evidence immediately collected identified the suspect vehicle as a white Volkswagen. While the victim was being treated by medical personnel, troopers located the suspect vehicle at the weigh station on Route 101 westbound in Epping. The vehicle, a Volkswagen Eurovan, was towed and the driver, William Rowe, 65, of Manchester, was charged with DWI and conduct after an accident. The driver of the Toyota Prius sustained minor injuries and was treated at the Exeter Hospital.
Rowe is scheduled to appear at Brentwood Circuit Court on Dec. 6. State police said the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation and charges related to the events may be upgraded at a later time.
Anyone with further information related to the crash is asked to contact Trooper Nathan Sleight at (603) 679-3333.
