ST. LOUIS, MO : 5 people killed on Missouri roadways on Friday, 16th February 2024
Five people died on Missouri roadways in a period of just over four hours on Friday evening. The fatal crashes happened as winter weather caused a multitude of traffic incidents statewide.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports five people have died in four crashes that happened between 5:31 p.m. and 9:52 p.m. Friday. Three of those fatal crashes happened in the highway patrol’s Troop C coverage area, which includes the St. Louis metro area and surrounding counties.
A driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash at 5:31 p.m. Friday on northbound U.S. Highway 67 near the bridge over Big River near Desloge.
MSHP crash reports show 77-year-old Frankie D. Gant was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital South due to injuries sustained in the crash. The patrol said he was driving too fast for icy conditions and not wearing a seatbelt when his 2005 Ford Ranger traveled off the right side of the road and overturned, partially ejecting him.
