There is some conflicting information regarding a deadly crash Wednesday morning in Greenville County coming from law enforcement and from witnesses.
Greenville County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jonathan Smith said the crash happened at 9:41 a.m. Wednesday on White Horse Road at Old Grove Road. The collision involved a pickup truck and sedan.
Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans said John Marquese Hampton, 29, died at the scene. Evans said he was driving a 2005 Mercury Marquis.
Evans said the driver of a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was taken to Greenville Memorial.
Family members said the man who was driving the truck was in critical condition.
Smith told WYFF News 4 that the crash happened after a pursuit involving a Highway Patrol trooper. He said the trooper was chasing a vehicle, but ended the pursuit at Bruce Road, about a quarter of a mile away from the crash. Smith said the car being pursued ended up in the collision.

Questions surround deadly crash in Greenville County
A 26-year-old woman was killed Tuesday night in a single-car crash at the intersection of J. Turner Butler Boulevard and 3rd Street South, according to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.
Police said it appeared Erica Kelly was entering the ramp to JTB when she lost control of her car, then overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to slide off the road and flip onto the driver's side.
Jacksonville Beach Fire Department responded, but found the driver was dead.
Police said Kelly was partially ejected and it appeared Kelly was not wearing a seat belt.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
