Edgerton, MA : Wrong-way driver continues to run from police after being hit by car on Interstate 39 near Edgerton on Sunday morning, July 3, 2016
A man reportedly driving the wrong way down the interstate Sunday morning crashed into the median and was hit by an oncoming car as he was trying to run away before being arrested, officials said.
Emergency crews from Dane County Sheriff’s Department, Edgerton Police Department and the Rock County Sheriff’s Department responded to crash around 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 39 northbound near Edgerton, according to a release.
State Patrol requested Edgerton police to help with a pursuit of a driver going the wrong way near mile marker 157, officials said.
The vehicle crashed into the median and the driver fled on foot, according to the release.
The driver was hit by a vehicle going north, but was able to continue running into the ditch, where he was arrested by Wisconsin State Patrol, officials said.
The man was taken to Mercy Hospital in Janesville, according to the release.
Charges are pending.
