HARRIS COUNTY, TX : 3 rescued in crash in NE Harris County near the intersection of the East Sam Houston Parkway and U.S. 90 on Monday, 31st December 2018

An 11-year-old child is dead and her father is in the hospital after a two-vehicle accident in northwest Harris County.

According to authorities, the accident happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday near the intersection of the East Sam Houston Parkway and U.S. 90.

Deputies said Jorge Ledezma Echavarria, 33, was driving a blue Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound near U.S. 90 when he ran a red light and crashed into another SUV heading north.

Vanessa Ledezma, 11, was in the back seat of the Tahoe when the accident happened. She was rushed to Memorial Hermann via Life Fight where she later died, deputies said.

Authorities said Jorge Ledezma was also transported to the hospital, where he remains.

Deputies said he showed signs of impairment and was arrested and charged with felony murder. Prosecutors have accepted those charges.
