Baltimore, MD : Two injured, one seriously in traffic crash in Deale on Wednesday evening, January 6, 2016

Two people were injured, one of them seriously, in a traffic accident Wednesday evening in Deale, county fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to a two-vehicle collision in the area of Solomons Island Road and Jewell Road shortly before 6:30 p.m. One vehicle was traveling south on Solomons Island Road when it struck another vehicle that entered its path from Jewell Road, fire officials said.

A man, estimated to be in his late 50s, driving the striking vehicle was flown by state police helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with serious but not believed to be life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.

A woman passenger in the striking vehicle, also estimated to be in her late 50s, was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center in Parole with minor injuries.

No one else was injured, fire officials said.
