Wrentham, MA : A man was killed and a 16-year-old boy was seriously injured when a motorcycle they were riding crashed into an SUV at Route 1 On Saturday, July 16th, 2016
A man was killed and a 16-year-old boy was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when a motorcycle they were riding crashed into an SUV that turned into the bike's path, Wrentham police say.
The crash was reported around 2 p.m. on Route 1 near Thurston Street as fans of country music star Luke Bryan were making their way to his concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
Officials confirmed the two victims were also on their way to the concert.
Wrentham police said the motorcycle was headed north on Route 1 when the SUV, also headed north, turned left into the path of the motorcycle.
"I heard the crash. I didn't know if it was a bike or car," witness John Powers said. "I wasn't too sure, so I came out and the bike was impaled in the driver's side door. The driver of the bike was hanging in the car, so they were
both headed in the same direction, headed toward the stadium."
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene and the 16-year-old boy was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
The four occupants of the SUV, a husband and wife with their two young children, were shaken up after the crash, but were not injured.
So far, no charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation.
