A northeast Indiana man died Wednesday afternoon in a single car crash.

Jeffery Spencer, 40, was driving a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria around 5 p.m. eastbound on Old State Road 24 in Wabash County. That's 45 minutes to an hour southwest of Fort Wayne.

State Police investigators believe Spencer was driving too fast given how wet the roads were and hydroplaned near 768 East. His car went off the road and hit a utility pole.

The crash is still under investigation, but preliminary evidence shows speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
