Hornick, IA : One dies in crash in rural Woodbury County Sunday night, August 21, 2016
A Hornick man has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident in rural Woodbury County Sunday night.
Mark Crowl, 73, was killed in the collision, which occurred at 8:19 p.m. on county Road D25, or Old Highway 141, near the 300th Street intersection near Hornick, according to the Iowa State Patrol
Crowl was traveling southeast on Highway 141, preparing to turn south on 300th Street, when another vehicle traveled left of the center of the road prior to turning left, according to the state patrol. The second vehicle struck Crowl's vehicles, with both vehicles coming to a stop on the east end of the intersection.
The driver of the second vehicle, identified as Shayna Schelm, 17, of Hornick.
Crowl was transported to Mercy Medical Center -- Sioux City, where he was pronounced dead. A passenger in Crowl's vehicle, Laura Kay Crowl, 70, and Schelm also were taken to Mercy for treatment.
