Bedford, VA : Police officer injured in head-on collision wreck on U.S. 460 early Tuesday, Oct 13, 2015

Bedford police say an officer is recovering from injuries suffered in a head-on collision.

Police tell multiple media outlets that the accident occurred early Tuesday as Officer Trista McCrickard was responding to a call about a vehicle traveling the wrong way at high speeds on U.S. 460.

McCrickard and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to Bedford Memorial Hospital. Both later were released.

Virginia State Police are investigating the accident.
