SHERMAN COUTY, OR : One dead after fiery crash in Sherman County on Wednesday, 20th March 2024

Oregon State Police said a person is dead after a two-car crash on Highway 97.

Just before midnight, officers responded to reports of a crash on Highway 97 near milepost 47.

23-year-old Jayden Matthew Smith of Prineville was driving northbound when he crossed into the southbound lane for unknown reasons, according to police. Smith then hit a car with a trailer head-on.
