Lewisburg, OH : Two people injured after a three-car crash on Interstate-70 Thursday night, April 14, 2016

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three-car crash on Interstate-70 Thursday night.

Officials say it happened at around 11:45 p.m. near U.S.-127.

According to an OSP sergeant, a driver was heading westbound in the high speed lane when it sideswiped a semi-truck. From there, the car went over the median and came to a stop in an eastbound lane.

An approaching vehicle was unable to get out of the way before crashing into the car that crossed the median.

Officials tells 2NEWS the driver of the semi and third vehicle were okay.

The driver and passenger of the car that crossed the median were trapped for nearly 30 minutes.

Fire officials used a complicated method to be able to get them out of the car.

Officials say they were flown via CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

OSP tells us the condition of both the driver and passenger are improving.

OSP is investigating the crash, and they tell us they found drug paraphernalia inside the car. They’re awaiting lab results to find out if either person was impaired at the time of the crash.

As of now, the driver in the hospital has been cited for the accident.
